Across Canada, nurses are being celebrated during National Nursing Week. This occasion to reflect on the vital work of the nursing profession is commemorated each year during the week of May 12, the birthday of nursing pioneer Florence Nightingale.
The Canadian Nurses Association created this year’s theme, #WeAnswerTheCall, to highlight “the many roles that nurses play in a patient’s health care journey.”
“This pandemic has shown us just how vital nurses are to our communities,” said SGEU President and former Health Providers chair Tracey Sauer. “Nurses have been a safeguard for Saskatchewan people during this trying year and we thank them for their courage and their dedication to keeping us safe.”
SGEU represents Continuing Care Assistants, Licenced Practical Nurses, and Registered Nurses within multiple SGEU sectors, who work at a number of facilities and institutions across the province.
