Multicultural Youth Leadership Award

SGEU is humbled and honoured to have partnered with the Multicultural Council of Saskatchewan to co-present the Multicultural Youth Leadership Award at Government House this weekend. This award recognizes significant contributions to multiculturalism by people 29 years and under.

Congratulations to this year’s recipient, Jellyn Ayudan! Jellyn arrived in Canada from the Philippines in October of 2009 and has since dedicated her life to empowering other new immigrants and refugees to achieve their fullest potential. Though still in high school, Jellyn is active in many forms of multicultural work: ensuring cultural continuity; celebrating diversity; countering racism; forging intercultural connections; and helping newcomers integrate into Canadian society.

SGEU also congratulates the recipient of the 2016 Betty Szuchewycz Award, Faeeza Moolla. Faeeza immigrated to Regina from South Africa 18 years ago to start her newcomer journey. She used her experience of growing up in a country rife with apartheid restrictions to engage in multiculturalism and build bridges across cultures and faiths.
